At Dotec, the team is growing again! We're happy to introduce Pieter Ebbing: an experienced project manager with an impressive career in machine building and infectious energy. Time to get to know him a little better.
From metalworker to project manager: a life in machine building
Pieter has a background in mechanical engineering and has been active in machine building for over 40 years. In that time, he's truly seen it all: from machine metalworker to service technician, trainer, sales specialist, and project staff member. And not just in the Netherlands, he's worked all over the world.
A project that really stands out for him? Installing and commissioning a machine line in Havana, Cuba. "A country with its challenges when it comes to energy, availability of materials and tools, mentality, and language," Pieter says. Anyone who can make that a success can clearly handle a bit of a challenge.
Why Dotec?
Pieter was looking for a new step and heard through the grapevine that Dotec had an opening for a project manager. He already knew the company a little, but it was mainly the introductory conversation with Wouter and Tijs that tipped the scales. "The family feel of the company suits me well," he says. "After the first few months, I can already say that choosing Dotec was the right choice."
What will he be doing?
As project manager, Pieter will act as the link between customer and organization. He also wants to contribute to setting up the ERP system, so that business processes become more efficient and user-friendly. When it comes to planning and transport, he admits he still has a few things to learn, but with motivated colleagues around him, that will work out just fine.
A connector through and through
Anyone who knows Pieter even a little quickly realizes he's a real connector, that's also how he was described when he left his previous employer, where he worked for 20 years. He believes in collaboration, respect for each other's departments, and solving problems by talking things through together.
His motto really says it all: "Stay yourself, don't pretend to be different or better than you are."
Outside of work
When Pieter isn't on the work floor, chances are he's out and about in his camper van, taking a ride on his motorcycle, or sailing with friends on the Frisian lakes. Someone who loves freedom and adventure, fitting for a man whose career has taken him around the world.
