Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Below are frequently asked questions and answers.

Why are ergonomic lift assists essential for long-term employability?

In many companies, operators are asked to perform a lot of physically demanding work. Without lifting aids, these operators run a high risk of injury: back or neck complaints, fatigue, and often long-term absenteeism. With an ergonomic lift assist from Dotec, the same people can keep delivering good work for much longer without pain, fatigue, or stress. Your team maintains the same pace and quality of work for years. Experienced employees can keep doing the job for years, so you're not constantly searching for new staff. For the employer, this means less sickness, less replacement, and more stability.

What is a lifting assist and how does it differ from other lifting equipment?

A Dotec LiftAssist is an ergonomic device that makes loads feel almost weightless. Thanks to the Ergohandle's finger-touch control, operators are up and running in about 10 minutes, whereas traditional cranes or other manipulators often require much more training. Our LiftAssists are fully customized to your production process, and internationally certified to meet strict safety standards. Perfect for repetitive lifting where speed, precision, and ergonomics are crucial.

How do I choose the right lifting equipment?

Start by asking yourself the key questions: What do I need it for? How often per day? What's my goal? What lifespan do I expect? Many companies opt for standard solutions that don't quite fit and deliver less result. A good lifting equipment, customized where necessary, prevents these problems before they arise. How much weight can a lift assist lift?

Dotec's LiftAssists can lift loads with minimal effort from operators. With an air balancer, we lift up to 250 kilograms; with our rigid systems, up to 700 kilograms. Our systems make heavy loads feel almost weightless, meaning operators need far less physical strength. Customers report that back and shoulder complaints they previously experienced have significantly decreased or disappeared. This prevents injuries and reduces fatigue, even during long shifts.

How much maintenance does a lifter need?

The Dotec LiftAssist is designed for minimal maintenance. That said, we recommend annual maintenance to preserve the system, during which we check all connections and test the safety functions. Cost depends on the number of systems and travel distance; in the Netherlands, this typically ranges between €800 and €1,200 per system per year. If an issue occurs, we don't automatically send a technician on-site. We diagnose remotely first. Many issues can be solved remotely too, especially on systems with digital controls that allow us to log in remotely. This keeps downtime to a minimum.

How much productivity can I gain with the Dotec lift assist?

Productivity gains vary depending on the process and product. In some cases, a changeover that used to take 5 minutes now takes just 1. Operators no longer need to exert physical effort, so they can work faster and with more control, often resulting in fewer errors, higher product quality, and fewer rejected products. Can I customize a lift assist to my specific production process?

Yes, absolutely. Dotec can build everything to order: the height, the weight, the way of picking up/gripping, and the speed. Everything can be tailored to your process.

How long does it take for an operator to learn to use a lift assist?

One of the advantages of the Dotec lift assist is its short learning curve of about 10 minutes. Thanks to the Ergohandle's finger-touch control, operators can get to work with minimal training. This saves significant training time and immediately boosts productivity.
